You can get your Exceptional Talent in Global Talent Visa(Tier 1 Exceptional Talent Visa) if you are a digital star. In other words, an expert with “a proven track record of innovation in the digital technology sector as … an employee working in a new digital field or concept that must be clearly evidenced”. What does this mean? Let’s think about what is “new digital field”. And how can you prove these Key Criteria?
New Digital Field
The descriptive term of “new digital field” is difficult. You cannot suggest its meaning easily. It is hard to understand. Sure, it is twice more difficult to apply to your specific case as the Key Criteria to get Global Talent Visa.
Anyway, let’s imagine that you are a Kotlin developer who works as an engineer at a fintech company. In my humble opinion, you are “an employee working in a new digital field”. But only in a case if you can prove one simple fact. At your current position, you must do something technically challenging using Kotlin. For example, help people to get cash from their banking mobile apps (joke :)).
In other words, I mean the tasks you are working on should not be regular ones. Like the development of mobile apps for customers. Or, for instance, applying customized interfaces for different models of smartphones, etc. Then it has to be something special. Something, which requires expertise and experience. That is why you cannot find the same wording about a new digital field in Key Criteria for Exceptional Promise.
Additionally, I must say that the new digital field can be one with old roots. For example, you work in the niche of self-driving cars. And you still will be considered as a contributor to a new digital field. However, your main instrument will be, probably, C++. This is a programming language that is older than many of the Global Talent Visa applicants.
Documents for Key Criteria
In general, you can think about an extract from your employment contract, payslips or a letter from your employee. This is a good list of documents to confirm your relationship with a particular company. For example, use the letter from your employee. It will be easier to provide the details about a new digital field you work in.
However, even without this letter, your employment contract is a key too. Definitely it has a reference to the area of your work, your tasks or any other specific information about the unique tasks you work on.
Finally, you can always use one amazing option. You can attach a cover letter. It will be a document written by you. Please, make it not longer than two one-sided A4 pages. Then attach as one of your 10 supporting documents.
In this piece of evidence, you can explain everything and even more :). You can write why your field must be considered as new for the digital industry. You can provide extra details too. For example, you are allowed to write about anything related to the relevant experience that you have for Key Criteria. Or you can clarify any other details of your Global Talent Visa application. Just do it 🙂
