In most cases, when you are applying for Tier 1 Exceptional Talent Visa outside the UK, you do not have a trusted address. Hence, you cannot write it as a temporary address in the visa application. Unless you are a fortunate guy with a flat next to Hyde Park :). So you need to use a temporary address for your visa application and choosing your collection location. I gathered a couple of tricks regarding this.

Question

Can I use a hotel accommodation address as my temporary address in the UK when filling the application form online?

Answer

Brief introduction – why do you need the address in the United Kingdom at all for your Tier 1 Exceptional Talent Visa?

This requirement exists on Stage 2 (Visa stage) for people who are already successfully endorsed by the Tech City UK. You need to write your temporary address in a visa application for the next choice of a Biometric Permit Residence (BPR) collection point. In ordinary cases, this collection point is a local Post Office unless you have prepaid Premium Service. Hence, the short answer to the question is “yes”. Hotel address is entirely relevant for this purpose. At the same time, please, also consider two following options:

  • Hotel, AirBnB or Work

If you are renting a room (flat) using AirBnB – you can use this address too. Moreover, having an address of your prospective employer, it is more reasonable even to use your future office address!
I was not so smart in my application :). Hence, I wrote the address which was not entirely convenient for me but trusted one. Finally, I had to go there for one hour before my work to collect my BPR and then return using the same route. Pure waste of time.

  • Your Future City

If you will live in Leeds and your application is focused on your life there, but your first point of entry is London, you can find any relevant address in Leeds and use it. Do not write your address in London when you will stay there just for three days! Otherwise, you will be forced to come back to London to get your BPR. However, with the same success, you can get it in Leeds, saving your time, money and efforts.

Hence, writing a particular temporary address in visa application, you can even predict what place will be your collection point. Just google the nearest post offices to your postcode and find a couple of the largest. With a high probability, after the successful visa application, you will come to get your BPR exactly there.
