The truth about Exceptionally Talented Child

UK Talent Visa for Kid may not be a problem when your child earn money

I got a couple of questions from parents of talented children from Russia and India regarding talent visa for kid. They wrote to me about Tier 1 Exceptional Talent Visas for their talented children as the only option to live, be educated and even work in the UK. Yes, you understand this idea correctly: they want to apply for a visa not by themselves but on behalf of their small kids!

Skilled children and talented workers

First of all, let’s think about the nature of Tier 1 Exceptional Talent Visa. This is an immigration document that helps the United Kingdom to get more professional experts in niche areas to work in the country and generate extra profit for the UK tax system (plus other ecosystem benefits).

Can a child be a worker? In some, very rare cases – yes, sure. If we think about the creative industry – it may have sense. You child may be famous in the international scene for singing, dancing, performing or drawing (heh, the last one is just a ridiculous talent for a kid :)).

Hence, a child may earn money (sometimes even huge) and this proof may positively influence a case to get the UK talent visa for kid.

Age to get the UK Talent Visa for kid

I have checked both guidelines – from Home Office and Tech Nation but I have not found any age restrictions to get Tier 1 Exceptional Talent Visa. In other words, it seems that there are no age limits to get it. And that is why I suggest, parents (on behalf of their talented kids) may apply for talent visa for kid. However, I must say this way is complicated and unbelievably difficult.

Can you imagine how much efforts adults spend to get the right Letter of Recommendation and write a truly impressive Personal Statement? So you need to do the same instead of your kid.

If you have a kid who already works as a singer, dancer, performer or even an artist – I think it will not be an issue for you to ask the employers of your kid or people who are “customers” to help you with feedback and get your talent visa for kid.

At the same time, I also believe in the following statement: the smaller kid is the smaller chances are to get Tier 1 Exceptional Talent Visa for your kid. Imagine how you will proof the talents of a 3-year-old boy (or 5-year-old girl) who sometimes cannot even speak properly. I think it is extremely tough. But again – if you have strong traction of national or international recognition of your child’s talents, why not to try a bit of luck and apply?

Exceptional Talent or Promise?

In my opinion, your kid may apply only as an Exceptional Talent. I think all children around the world are exceptional promises: they have hidden abilities to be world leaders in a couple of years. But to get the UK talent visa for kid your small one MUST already be a talent. This means that your child must already have:

  • understand his or her talents and skills;
  • get recognition as a talented kid worldwide or at least in your country;
  • earn money with mentioned talent (more is better and will be easier to prove the unique and exceptional status of the kid).
The chances to get Tier 1 Exceptional Talent Visa for kids are directly related to the age of your child – the smaller she or he is the tinier they are

Apply by yourself or with lawyers

Even for adults who apply for Tier 1 Exceptional Talent Visa, this is a real issue! To get this high-profile visa in a case with a child it is twice hard.

That is why I ask you to assess your own abilities (as a parent of an exceptionally talented child) to go through the legal procedure of two stages with dozens of documents to apply. If you think you will be fine – do this and dig deeper into the immigration system of the United Kingdom.

But if not, you can write your situation to A Y & J Solicitors, which are a Legal Partner of this Blog and since they have a good portfolio of applications for Tier 1 Exceptional Talent Visa, you will get professional support with your truly special immigration case.

Tech Nation Visa for a kid – does it exist?

This is a fruit of my imagination :). But I decided to brainstorm is it possible to get Tier 1 Exceptional Talent Visa in Digital Technologies for a kid?

I think it is not an individual case but extraordinarily unique situation when a kid is doing digital something and gets money out of this work (not just money but a good sum of it). And yes, we are not speaking about any kind of slavery or illegal kids work (unfortunately, it happens but this is a topic for a completely different discussion).

How to get talent visa for kid when (s)he works in digital technologies? I think it is possible for kids who are influencers, for example, Ryan who earns money with his toy reviews in Youtube or JoJo who is already a teenager but started to be an international star in a very small age… If a child has got great performance in any kind of digital channels – it may be the right choice to apply for the UK talent visa for kid but again – I strongly recommend you to go to experienced immigration advisors since the price of the case is high. And the win in the case will be truly sweet :).
